Home EV charger installation budget
Bring your installer quotes together in one budget and see which costs still need a price.
Before requesting quotes
A dedicated home charger needs installation by a licensed electrician. Your switchboard or electricity supply may need changes. The Australian Government explains these considerations in its home and strata charging guidance.
Ask the installer to assess your parking location, cable route, supply, vehicle and charger requirements. For an apartment or shared car park, discuss building approval and billing with the relevant owner or manager.
Compare the scope as well as the total
Check whether each quote includes the charger, installation, supply work, testing, GST and any site repairs. If one quote bundles several items, enter its amount once and use 0 for the categories it already covers. Leave work that has not been priced blank.
Get quotes from licensed electricians with EV charger experience. See the NSW Government home charger guide for questions to consider.
Why are there no preset installation prices?
The property, equipment and scope determine the quote. The worksheet totals your own figures rather than assigning prices to work that has not been assessed.
How is the result calculated?
The result is the sum of all entered categories. Blank fields stay unpriced and are listed separately. The worksheet does not add GST, contingency or any unentered allowance.
