How We Verify EV Charger Listings
This page explains how we verify EV charger listings on EV Charger Near Me. We are an independent directory. We do not operate charging networks and we do not invent connector or power figures. Listings come from structured data exports, not manual surveys or marketing submissions.

Source data and collection method
Business rows are collected via Outscraper from Google Maps queries for electric vehicle charging stations across Australia. The export includes name, address, phone, website, Google hours, rating, review count, photo URLs, place ID and the Maps structured data object (Payments, Parking, Accessibility, Charges).
We run periodic scrapes by state and metro area to refresh the dataset. New stations appear when Google indexes them and Outscraper captures the business record. Closed stations drop out when their Google status changes to permanently closed.
What fields we extract and enrich
Where Google Maps provides structured hardware data in the about.Charges object, we extract connector types (CCS, Type 2, CHAdeMO, Tesla) and peak kW figures. Not every business record includes this data. When connectors are missing, we publish the listing with location and hours only, and note the gap in the description.
| Field | Source | Enrichment |
|---|---|---|
| Connector types | Google Maps Charges |
Extract and list |
| Peak kW | Google Maps Charges |
Extract highest value |
| Network name | Business name | Pattern match known brands |
| 24-hour access | Google hours text | Flag if always open |
| Description | Derived fields | Fact-based summary |
Network labels come from the business name when it clearly matches a known brand like Chargefox, Evie, Tesla, Jolt, NRMA, BP Pulse or Exploren. Names without a clear brand stay blank rather than guessed. This keeps the network filter accurate without false positives.
Descriptions are built from derived fields only. We do not scrape reviews, invent pricing or fabricate availability claims. A typical description states connector types, power band, network name (if identified) and hours.
Publish versus draft versus drop rules
Not every row in the Outscraper export becomes a live listing. We apply quality gates to filter out weak or irrelevant records before import.
- Publish: Operational EV charging stations with a usable suburb or locality, a valid place ID, and no permanent closure flag.
- Draft: Weak locality (missing suburb), missing geocode, temporary closure flag, or no charge data and no contact path to verify. Drafts stay hidden until we can enrich them manually.
- Hard drop: Permanently closed, contractors, parking lot operators, shopping malls without charge hardware, and other non-station business types.
We also drop rows where the business name suggests a service company or installer rather than an operational charging site. For example, “EV Charger Installation Services” is not a station you can drive to and plug into.
What we do not claim about listings
Bay availability timestamps from Google are snapshots, not a live occupancy feed. A station might show “available” in the data export but be fully occupied when you arrive. Always have a backup station from the same suburb before you rely on a single bay.
Pricing, roaming access and adapter rules change frequently and vary by network. We do not publish AUD per kWh rates because they shift by site, time of day and membership tier. Confirm pricing in the network app before you start a session.
Hardware upgrades can happen between scrapes. If a listing shows 50 kW but the cabinet now offers 150 kW, the Google business record might not reflect the upgrade yet. Treat connector and power data as indicative, and verify on the cabinet sticker or network app when you arrive.
How often we refresh listings
We re-scrape each state and metro area every few months to catch new stations, closures and major hardware changes. Google Maps updates business records at its own pace, so our data is only as current as Google’s index. If you spot a closure or major error, use the contact form with the listing URL so we can flag it for the next scrape.
Why we do not visit every charger
This is a data-driven directory with editorial quality rules, not a field survey. Manual visits do not scale to thousands of stations across Australia. We rely on structured data exports and automated quality gates to keep the directory current and accurate at scale.
Operators and drivers should treat hours, connector types and power figures as subject to change. Networks upgrade hardware, adjust hours and sometimes rebrand sites. Use the listing as a starting point and confirm details in the network app or on the cabinet screen before you plug in.
Correction and removal requests
If you operate a charging site or manage a Google business profile for one, you can request corrections through the contact form. Include the listing URL, the field that needs updating (connector, hours, closure status) and evidence like a cabinet photo or network app screenshot.
If a business record should not be listed (for example, a private workplace charger or a residential install), provide the place ID or listing URL and we will move it to draft or drop it from the next import batch.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you visit every charger to verify it works?
No. This is a data-driven directory with editorial quality rules. We rely on Outscraper exports from Google Maps and automated publish gates. Operators and drivers should treat hours and hardware as subject to change, and confirm in the network app before travelling to a station.
How do I suggest a correction to a listing?
Use the contact form with the listing URL and what changed (connector, hours, closed status, or hardware upgrade). Include evidence like a cabinet photo or network app screenshot if possible. We will flag it for the next scrape or update the listing manually if the change is urgent.
Why does a listing show no connector types?
Not every Google business record includes structured Charges data. When connectors are missing from the source, we publish the listing with location and hours only. You can verify connectors on the cabinet sticker, in the network app or by calling the site contact number if listed.
Can I submit a new charging station to your directory?
New stations appear automatically when Google indexes the business record and Outscraper captures it in the next scrape. If you operate a station and it does not show on our site, make sure the Google business profile is live, correctly categorised (electric vehicle charging station) and includes hardware details in the Charges field.
How accurate is bay availability data on listings?
Bay availability counts from Google are snapshots, not live feeds. A station might show available bays in the data but be fully occupied when you arrive. Always have a backup station from the same suburb on your shortlist before you drive to a specific bay.
Do you accept paid listings or advertising from networks?
No. All listings come from public Outscraper exports of Google Maps data. We do not accept payment from charging networks to boost rankings, hide competitors or fabricate connector data. The directory is editorially independent.
