Cockburn Battery-Backed Charger Joined Chargefox in August
Chargefox announced a new charging site in Cockburn, Western Australia, rated up to 250 kW on 10 August 2026, opposite Fremantle Football Club headquarters. The dated announcement establishes the reported commissioning, not its present occupancy or performance for every car.

What the battery-backed installation changes
The Chargefox release identifies a customer-owned eLumina DS400 installation and says battery storage and rooftop solar allow fast charging with a smaller grid draw. It names eLumina and Mine Maintenance Management in the collaboration.
Storage energy and charging power use different units. eLumina’s DS400 specification identifies a 350 kWh battery. Chargefox’s page uses inconsistent kW/kWh wording for that storage figure, so it should not be repeated as though battery capacity and output power were the same quantity. The Cockburn announcement’s 250 kW site rating is also separate from the manufacturer’s maximum product capability.
What a driver still needs to check
Confirm the actual station and connector in the Chargefox app, along with its current tariff, access notes and reported status. Check vehicle compatibility, parking conditions and cable reach. A battery behind the charger does not guarantee a vacant bay, open gate or a constant 250 kW session.
If the stop is important to your next leg, save a suitable alternative reachable with your reserve. Use the charger map or journey planner for candidates, then check the operator’s current information.
The usable-power guide explains why cabinet output differs from a vehicle’s charging rate. For a late arrival, use the night-access checklist.
