Evie’s September Terms Flag an Autocharge Check Before Selling
Evie Autocharge users should remove the feature when they no longer have the vehicle, according to the Australian network’s terms dated 29 September 2026. That is a useful handover check for anyone selling an EV or returning a rental: an active vehicle link can leave charging tied to the previous user’s account.

What the current terms say
The dated terms explain that Autocharge identifies a linked vehicle and starts a session when it is connected, without separate authentication through the app, an RFID card or a payment terminal. They require users who cease possessing the vehicle, or want to stop using Autocharge for it, to remove Autocharge or delete the vehicle in the app.
This report describes the current wording. It does not establish that every Autocharge clause was introduced on 29 September. The distinction matters: a newly dated terms page isn’t evidence that the service itself has just launched or that an existing requirement has changed.
Check the account before handing over the keys
Evie’s Autocharge help page also warns rental users to remove the feature before returning the car, otherwise later charging sessions could be billed to them. The page directs users to the app’s Profile area to deactivate it. It says a debit or credit card is required for Autocharge and that vehicle and charger compatibility must be checked.
Make the account check part of the handover, while you still have access to the app and can identify the right vehicle. After changing the setting, check that the intended vehicle has been removed or deactivated. If the account state is unclear, contact Evie before relying on the handover being complete. Keep your final charging receipt alongside the vehicle-return paperwork.
Keep a way to start a normal charging session
Autocharge users should still know how to check the charger and vehicle displays for an active session. A connected cable alone doesn’t demonstrate that energy is being delivered. Evie’s guidance asks drivers to check the charger’s confirmation and the car’s display, and recommends enabling session notifications.
